Solar panel plan
A company called Inazin are planning to build an enormous solar panel 'farm' at Valley Farm, which is located on the road from Tattingstone White Horse to Holbrook. The proposed development will swallow up 70 acres of farmland for 30 years . . . the largest solar panel installation in the country!

A public consultation was held at the Village Hall at the end of January, but only 40 villagers turned up - largely because many knew nothing about it!

Personally, I am torn between recognising the need for alternative forms of energy production against having such a major installation on our doorstep. However, the developers promise that, once construction has taken place, it will be largely hidden, will create no noise and will only need minimal maintenance, causing no increase in local traffic.

Broadband is go!
The number of people connected to super-fast broadband via Alton BroadBand's wireless system continues to grow . . . proving that it is a reliable, robust and continually fast service. Demand is already high and there will only be a limited number of connections available . . . so go along to Alton BroadBand's website to register your interest . . . connections will be made on a first come, first served basis.

The service costs £150 for set up and the first month's rental, with the monthly fee set at £25 for the 7Mbps speed - fast enough to enjoy BBC iPlayer in High Definition! We will soon be adding a second line, which should see speeds double!
